PORTFOLIO > Aerie Cottage
This was a renovation of an 1890’s shingle cottage house that sits atop a hill overlooking the Newport Bridge and the harbor. The building was originally two separate structures with a covered porch connecting between them. The restoration included removing the old floor system and structure to make the connection between the two buildings seamless. A dining room addition was designed to complement the existing building with exposed rafter tails and custom mahogany windows and doors to match existing profiles and details. Reclaimed chestnut floors and custom kitchen cabinetry add to the charm and warmth of this cottage.
